Hello and Greetings from the C.E.R.T Program,

We are Terry Welsh and Steve Fea, the primary instructors for the disaster preparedness programs, and we would like to tell you about our program. Let me start by asking you a question !

How prepared are you and your community if an earthquake were to hit Redlands?

Well if you answered, "Not very or Somewhat ready" we may be able to assist you!!

C.E.R.T. stands for Community Emergency Response Training and it is available to you. This program both informs and teaches you what you need to know in the unfortunate event of an earthquake. Basics of search and rescue, medical treatment, damage assessment and hazard mitigation. The program is currently being implemented into the schools here in Redlands and has been accepted with great enthusiasm. Redlands schools are some of the few in the inland empire that are receiving this training, making the schools staff an unequalled asset in the event of an earthquake.....be proud of them. There has even been some training done in some of the businesses here in town.

Classes cover a wide range of subjects:

• earthquake preparedness
• determining if buildings are safe to enter
• first aid and disaster medicine
• organizing search teams
• rescue teams
• mitigating hazards like small fires, gas leaks and electrical problems
